Life Cycle – Baytzuhr Montessori

I printed our own 3-part cards of all sorts of animals.
*Tiada bukti gambar* Minta Haris susun gambar-gambar yang tiada nama, dan lepas tu minta dia letak nama yang dia tahu di bawah gambar-gambar tadi. Mana yang dia tak tahu, minta dia ambil gambar yang dah ada nama di bawah tu dan susun. Tak tolong pun, hanya betulkan sebutan nama-nama haiwan tu je. So at least, he checks his own work.

Lepas tu, minta dia teliti gambar-gambar tu dan tengok apa beza. Ada haiwan dalam air dan haiwan darat. Minta dia tengok lagi, apa lagi yang boleh dia bezakan? Kaki, ada dua kaki, empat kaki dan tiada kaki! ^^ (With help, sebab dia cam dah hilang minat. ^^;;;;;)

Day 2

Introducing Animal Tracks. Download animal tracks free cards from Montessori For Everyone. Playing match animals to their tracks and cut and paste it to his Science Notebook (I printed 2 copies, satu untuk kad dan satu lagi untuk tampal.) Showed him, animals leave tracks by demonstrating animal figures walking on playdoh, and so do we. If we walk by foot, then tinggal kesan tapak kaki, if by shoes, tapak kasutlah.

Tunggu Hana bangun baru buat footprint stamp dengan tempera paint. Showing him pictures of other animal tracks online, and play an online game. Best game ni sebab beserta dengan suara setiap binatang. Haris tutup telinga takut dengar. ^^;;;;;;;;;;;; Nampak sangat tak banyak blend dengan nature, di kelilingi konkrit aje. Huhu.

Living & Non-Living Things

Mula dengan cerita tentang benda hidup dan bukan hidup. Tengok keliling dalam rumah dan tanya yang mana he thinks living and non-living. Since the only living things around us, is us, it was pretty easy, lol. Told him that we need to eat, drink dan beranak pinak which makes us alive.

Lepas tu, present him cards dan minta dia sort, living and non-living. While Hana had an emergency, lol, tinggal je Haris sort sorang-sorang. He finshed, and ada satu kad tu haiwan dalam laut which he doesn’t know di non-living. It’s fine I said since he doesn’t know (Haris adalah seorang yang sangat senang merajuk. -.-)

Petang tu, we take a short walk and discuss what he sees along the way, which living and non-living. He said trees aren’t living things at first (pagi masa tampal-tampal), same goes with flower, if, they’re still on the trees. Always ask, how can you tell if something is living or non-living? To make sure he gets the point. Which he eventually does. At first he only thinks about reproduce (having babies in his thought), sebab tu dia jawab pokok tak hidup. Had to explain that they ‘move’ or ‘grow’ even though in one place.

Next day, gave him a magazine and asked him to find and cut living and non-living dan tampal dalam buku nota Sains.

Made this chart for him to analyse each of the items.

Science Week 1

Day 1

1. Take a walk outside. Explain there’re living and non-living things around us. Pick things up along the way.
2. Living things need food, water and air and they reproduce. They move (trees and alike move when growing)
3. Jotted in science journal the findings.

How can you tell if something is living or non-living?
What are some things that all living things have in common?

and write them out and discuss one by one. Take an example that most likely have them all.

Notes: Tricky one, tree, seeds, eggs, apple.

Day 2

Sorting with cards and figurines.
Have them cutout pictures, color and paste.

Day 3

Make a chart.

– Does it move all by itself?
– Does it grown and change?
– Does it breathe?
– Does it need food, water and air to survive?
– Does it reproduce?
